The Emergency Medicine Residents' Association of Florida

Providing a unified voice for EM residents within FCEP and the state of Florida

About:

The Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association of Florida (EMRAF) is a committee within FCEP that represents the voice and unique interests of Florida’s emergency medicine resident physicians. All resident physicians who join FCEP are automatically considered members of EMRAF.

EMRAF’s primary goals are to increase resident engagement within FCEP, EMRA and ACEP, and to facilitate the overall development of well-rounded emergency medicine residents.

Leadership & Structure:

The EMRAF President is elected by fellow residents to serve a 1-year term at the Symposium by the Sea EMRAF Committee Meeting. This position comes with an official voting seat on FCEP’s Board of Directors, allowing the EMRAF President to represent and advocate for resident interests.

Each one of Florida’s emergency medicine residency programs appoints a representative to act as their primary liaison for EMRAF and FCEP. Responsibilities vary among programs, but typical duties include writing quarterly updates for EMpulse, coordinating annual visits from FCEP leaders during Grand Rounds, and relaying important information about FCEP/EMRAF to their colleagues.

New!: EMRAF is forming a Board of Regional Representatives to better represent Florida’s emergency medicine residency programs. Stay tuned for more.

Learn Through Competition

Test your knowledge and skills while representing your program through FCEP competitions! Symposium by the Sea hosts four competitions for residents—SimWARS, Case Presentation Competition (CPC), SonoRace and the Research Poster Abstract Competition—while Life After Residency hosts the EMRA Quiz Show: Florida Style.

Build Your Network

FCEP is filled with colleagues who share similar interests as you. Connect with residents from other programs, alumni from your own program and older physicians who can mentor and support you.

Publish Your Work in EMpulse

All FCEP residents are invited to submit case reports and articles for publication in FCEP’s official publication, EMpulse Magazine. You can also represent your program by writing quarterly articles in the Residency Updates section.
