Broward Health Program Update

by | Oct 24, 2025

We are off to an exciting start to the academic year here at Broward Health! We have welcomed our new 15-person intern class, who are hitting the ground running and adjusting well to their new roles as Emergency Medicine physicians.

We had a successful welcome event, going on a sunset boat cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway, stopping at a sandbar, and getting to know our new class. This was followed by multiple fun wellness events including a beach picnic, a Miami Marlins game, and a pre-season Miami Dolphins game. We have had a great time bonding with our residents and faculty members and are looking forward to upcoming Friendsgiving and holiday parties.

It has been a productive start to the year with regards to research. Five of our interns will be traveling to Amelia Island, FL, to present posters at the Mayo Clinic 17th Annual Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Review, and two of our second years have an upcoming article that was accepted for publication in The Western Journal of Emergency Medicine Clinical Practice and Cases in Emergency Medicine.

Construction has begun on a new CT scanner at Broward Health North, which will be right next to the EMS Emergency Department entrance and directly across from our trauma bays, which will facilitate increased efficiency with obtaining CT scans here in the department.

We post regular updates on Instagram @browardEM if anyone would like to hear more. We are incredibly excited to see what the remainder of the year has in store, and are looking forward to meeting applicants throughout the upcoming interview season!
