Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays from the University of South Florida’s Emergency Residency family!

First congratulations are in order for this year’s fellowship matches! 6 of our 10 amazing residents from the Class of 2024 are pursuing fellowship opportunities including:

Dr. Autumn Bass – EM Critical Care and Resuscitation at Hartford Hospital/University of Connecticut

Dr. Sam Harris – Palliative Care at USF/Tampa General Hospital

Dr. Jasmine Jolly – Ultrasound at Prisma Health Upstate in Greenville, SC

Dr. Lorena Martinez – Ultrasound at USF/Tampa General Hospital

Dr. Daniel Mbom – Ultrasound at USF/Tampa General Hospital

Dr. Amanda Priddy – Simulation at USF/Tampa General Hospital

As we near the halfway mark of the academic year we have been busy hosting  students interested in emergency medicine, showcasing both our state-of-the-art facilities and our residency program alike. Our faculty is in full swing busy interviewing prospective EM physicians as our residents eagerly await match day to find out who will be joining our family as part of the class of 2027.

With the holiday season approaching quickly our program continues to enjoy our social gatherings, both virtual and in-person. Annual favorites include our Friendsgiving and holiday parties bringing current residents and alumni together to spread the holiday cheer. With even more celebration to come as the city of Tampa prepares for its annual pirate invasion by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla the USF EM family will also be hosting our annual Gasparilla Pirate Party.

On the academic front, our PGY-3s attended the annual ACEP scientific assembly and brought a formidable team to SIMwars—a true display of our residents’ skills and teamwork. Looking forward into the second half of our academic year our residents are finishing their preparations for the upcoming In-Training Examination (ITE), followed by our annual Difficult Airway and Advanced Procedures days at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS).

Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our program and its incredible residents. As we continue through the 2023 Interview season, we wish all the applicants the best, and we cannot wait to meet you all!
