Winter 2023: HCA St. Lucie Medical Center
Happy New Year to all from HCA Florida- St. Lucie! We hope everyone had a great holiday season. In addition to a name change, 2022 brought us lots of great memories and experiences to look back on and learn from, as well as bringing us a new first year class that is continuing to settle in and get more comfortable in all aspects of the job.
While the end of the year is often a time for reflection of time gone by, it is also a time to look forward to the future, and the members of our program certainly have a lot to look forward to! All of the seniors in our class have already solidified their post-residency plans, so that is a massive weight taken from their shoulders. We have also had some personnel changes that we are very excited about. For starters, we welcomed Dr. Jack Pyle into our program to round out our first-year class. Furthermore, Attending Dr. Dennis Cardriche has stepped up to fill the core faculty spot that long-term Core Faculty Dr. Jason Morris is leaving behind, also taking over his mentor group and assuming our Research Director position. He has big shoes to fill, and while we will all miss the “Morris Gold” he frequently gives with his lectures, we are all very excited to see what Dr. Cardriche will bring to our program and we know he will exceed all expectations as he typically does.
In addition to our personnel changes, we are also looking forward to taking full advantage of the new equipment/facilities upgrades afforded to us at the end of last year. We received grants to fund both new AV setup for our classroom, including large smart boards to make lectures more interactive, and have on-site equipment to operate a fully functional SIM lab that out program is working to incorporate into our regular didactics. We have also had a host of guest lecturers recently to broaden our approaches and further enhance our clinical acumen and board prep, which we have been very appreciative of and are looking forward to more that have been lined up.
With all of these changes happening, 2023 is looking very bright for our program! We hope everyone else is doing well and wish everyone nothing but great things to come in this new year!
