Greetings from HCA Florida- Orange Park!

This season has been nothing short of dynamic — filled with learning, teamwork, and
milestones as we welcomed twelve new interns whose enthusiasm is already making a
difference, alongside senior residents stepping up as leaders in high-acuity care and
mentorship.

Academically, our team continues to shine, pushing the boundaries of innovation and
scholarship. Dr. Martin Wegman received the 2025 Faculty Teaching Award from the
Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD), recognizing his
dedication to education and mentorship. With his guidance, residents and faculty
advanced ambitious research projects, leading to original presentations at ACEP 2025
on the utility of D-dimer in CTA-P decisions, the interplay between stroke and sepsis
protocols, and high-sensitivity troponin, along with scholarship at FCEP, CORD, and
SAEM national meetings.

Ultrasound innovation continues to set our team apart. Dr. Taryn Hoffman was
recognized nationally by the ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Section as the EUS Future
Leader in Education, inspiring our residents to elevate their POCUS skills. Our team
continued to make waves, earning second place at FCEP Sonogames and delivering
another stellar performance at the SAEM Ultrasound Competition, further cementing
OPMC’s reputation for excellence in ultrasound education nationally.

This year’s academic calendar features a world-class speaker lineup through HCA,
including Drs. Amal Mattu, Scott Weingart, and Richard Levitan. Outside the hospital,
wellness and camaraderie thrived with a beach day, an upcoming NFL Jaguars game,
alumni gatherings, and community service in Jacksonville.

As we look ahead, we remain grateful for the dedication of our residents, faculty, and
staff, and we are excited to carry this momentum into the year ahead.
